Over the past few months I’ve really been focusing on two types of photography. Portraits with my new brand “Blank Canvas Photography” and ocean art and shore break photography. I’ve always loved shooting landscape and seascapes and during this time they certainly took a little back step in priority.
Over the weekend however my girlfriend and I woke up nice and early to head down to snorkel and dive in the Gold Coast seaway. I had my camera setup and ready to go in my Aquatech water housing with my flash mounted on top looking for that magic shot in the ocean. However the waves had a little morning sickness and didn’t look ideal for the shot I had in mind. Luckily I was still carrying my Lee filter kit and filters as the clouds on the horizon were illuminating all kinds of vibrant hues and tones.
I was racing the clock trying to get my camera out of the housing and my Lee filters in time. I raced down the beach in my tracksuit pants, hoodie (thanks to Loose Kid Industries) and beanie. I quickly set up and got a few shots in.
Meanwhile on the beach my girlfriend was approached by a lady who had a wine glass in her hand filled with Bundy and coke, wearing nothing but a fluffy jacket. (AND I MEAN NOTHING) she was nude. She decided to speak to us for about 20 minutes or so telling us her life story and how her husband loves to take photographs of her nude…..HAHA ahhh there are always some funny characters on the Gold Coast. We both had a laugh and now have a funny story to tell.
Here are some shots from the session. Take note of totally awesome selfie
I'm excited to share a recent milestone in my photography journey. The Coffee Club Coolangatta commissioned me to produce two large pieces of canvas photography art as part of their coastal refurbishment.
