When you know you slept in 5 minutes too long!

May 06, 2017

Sometimes photographing sunrise on the Gold Coast comes down to a few minutes difference.

Lat night I was so excited and enthusiastic to be heading down to Duranbah beach to photograph sunrise I had my bags and car all packed ready to shoot.

Fast forward 6 hours and my alarm goes off, I stumble and drop my phone on the wall and manage to fall out of bed trying to turn it off. I hit the snooze button whilst I notice my partner being woken. I head back to sleep thinking I won't head down the beach.

5 minutes later my partner encourages me to get out of bed. What seems like an eternity, I fumble my keys and manage to get out the door. I get ready and detour to Maccas. I know, not healthy but I was hungry.

As I'm on the freeway about to take the exit I notice an absolutely incredible sunrise in the distance, I thought it wasn't going to be a boring morning as there was a lot of clouds and rain hanging around. But as the sun peeked through the clouds on the horizon it was the most beautiful orange hue I have ever seen.

Unfortunately as I race to get my camera all setup the colour starts to clear. These photos are 5 minutes too late and I'm absolutely kicking myself.
