They say the early bird captures the worm however as surfer on the east coast of Australia, most people rise from their beds to capture a wave before work.
This image is one I’ve wanted to capture for a while. The large swell produced from TC Winston was pounding our ocean and only the points were holding the size (like most swells that are over 5ft on the Gold Coast). This made it difficult to find a wave away from the crowds of Snapper Rocks and also made it difficult to document something different compared to the other hundred photographers on Kirra Point. But this young man who slightly resembles John John Florence was eager to get out there before the crowds turned up just before the sun had risen.
