Riverfire 2025
Brisbane’s Riverfire Festival always knows how to light up the sky - and this year, I decided to capture it like never before. I’ve photographed Brisbane’s skyline countless times, but this was my first real attempt at Riverfire photos 2025 - and it turned into something completely different from what I expected. A Last-Minute Decision It wasn’t planned. One minute I was at home, the next I was weaving through the crowds, camera gear in hand, hoping to find a good spot before the first firework exploded over the Brisbane River. Turns out, I got lucky. A familiar location gave me the perfect view, and this time, with the sky set ablaze, Brisbane felt like a whole new city. The Roar & the Power of Heavy-Lift Aircraft Before the first sparkle of Riverfire 2025, the skies rumbled with anticipation. The C-17A Globemaster III made a dramatic low flyby - that transport giant cutting a silhouette against the fading daylight. Alongside it, the EA-18G Growler jets tore across the sky, each with a different character of sound, size, and speed. That moment, capturing metal, motion, and power against a backdrop of twilight, felt as epic as any firework. It grounded the abstract, reminding me that Riverfire isn’t just about light, it’s about scale, tension, and the beauty of contrast. From Fireworks to Cosmic Art When editing these Riverfire photos 2025, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was looking at something bigger than fireworks. The bursts of colour reminded me of deep-space nebulae and celestial storms, abstract, chaotic, beautiful. So, instead of the classic “skyline with fireworks” postcard style, I leaned into the abstract photography approach. The result? Images that feel part celebration, part cosmic explosion, Brisbane’s night sky reimagined. Brisbane Night Time Aerial
Finally! A bucket shot I’ve been wanting to capture for a long time has finally come to life. In this series of aerial photographs of Brisbane, I focus on the city nightlife as the city is illuminated in golden hues of city lights. In the world of photography, there are moments that stand out as truly unforgettable experiences. One such moment for our photography business was a heart-pounding adventure in the skies in a doors-off helicopter photoshoot over Brisbane City at dusk. Today, we take you on an exhilarating journey behind the lens to share the unique challenges and rewards of capturing breathtaking images from high above the ground. The Thrill of Flying Doors-Off There's something magical about soaring high above the world with the wind rushing through your hair and no barriers between you and the stunning landscapes below. For this doors-off helicopter photoshoot, we teamed up with experienced pilots from V2 Helicopters who specialize in providing a safe and exhilarating flying experience for aerial photography. Strapping in securely, we were ready to embark on a photographic adventure like no other. Preparing for the Perfect Shot Before taking off, meticulous planning was crucial. We scouted potential shooting locations, taking into account the time of day, weather conditions, and the unique perspectives each spot offered. We also ensured our camera gear was securely fastened, as shooting from a helicopter adds an extra layer of complexity to the process. Unparalleled Views and Perspectives Despite the challenges, the views were nothing short of awe-inspiring. From towering city skylines to pristine natural wonders, the vantage point from the helicopter allowed us to capture scenes from angles impossible to achieve on the ground. WOAHHH what an incredible morning with some of the strangest conditions this winter has brought us. Fog covered Brisbane for hours this morning. These shots were taken in between 8:30AM and 10:30AM with loads of fog cover over the beautiful Brisbane City.
