Over the years, I've often thought to myself that photographic canvas prints are a thing of the past, they were super popular in the early 2000's with the rise of inkjet printers and being able to produce high volumes of prints. By no means have they lost their trend, it's just my own personal opinion on canvas. I'm looking for something that feels a bit more luxurious.
Fast forward 20 years and the question beckons, are they dead? Are they still trendy and will they look good in my home?
Generally speaking most people that purchase art from my store buy a framed print or acrylic print. The later being super trendy at the moment but will they stand the trendy test of time?
My thoughts? Acrylic prints are a fantastic medium that offer this high resolution feel, like a 4k TV, they suit photographs very well, giving it a wow factor. They float off the wall and really bring a wow factor into the room. Will they stand the test of time? Providing you purhchased quality acrylics which is what we offer, and so long as you look after the prints they will look great for many years to come. But, will they still be trendy? I'll answer that down below.....
So, what about framed prints? They have almost been the most established and sort after medium since their inception. But why is that? I beleive it comes down to one simple fact. THE FRAMES! Frames give them presence on the wall, they can help style your wall to suit the colours in your room, matching style and elegance to help tie the room together.
So, to answer the question "Are canvas prints dead?" Simple answer, no! Adding a float frame to the canvas often brings new life to a medium that sometimes look a little lack luster or perhaps a little boring and plain. Putting a frame around your canvas or even acrylic in the years to come, will help bring that style, elegance and luxurious feel to your artwork. They might cost a bit more but it really does bring everything together and help finish the canvas off.
This is why, here at Jon Wright Photography I'm proud to announce we offer a float frame canvas on all our prints. Simply choose your colour from the third drop down when purchasing your print.

I’m pleased to announce my new abstract collection called “White Wash” is finally here. The concept came about a few years ago where I went to the coast to capture some surf images, however, the weather decided on a different idea. Not wanting to leave empty-handed I started focusing on the white wash and spray being created when the waves smashed against the rocks.
As I got back to the office and started to play around with the concept and noticing the depth and perception of a textured scene, I realised a few more sessions like this with different lighting conditions could produce some unique abstract works of art. The idea is to challenge the viewers into understanding what they’re looking at with different perspectives and tweaks with colour and light. All photographs were captured in nature.
White Wash is a collection of abstract ocean images the delves into the world of seemingly normal events that occur around the beach with a large focus of the white water that waves produce. Twisting and creating these mundane situations and creating beautiful artwork is a key focus of the White Wash collection.⠀
The goal of searching for something different and trying to find the beauty within something so seemingly normal in an everyday occurrence was a challenge but one that I believe produced beautiful works.

It's been on my mind for a while now but I thought I best showcase what I believe are my top 5 Gold Coast Prints. Based on personal preference and style, these images are what I believe showcases the beautiful tropical lifestyle we have here on the Gold Coast.
Don't forget you can check out the Gold Coast gallery simply by heading to location then Gold Coast. Although you will see some photographs in there that might not directly correlate with the Gold Coast, all of them were taken on the Gold Coast.

It's that time you have all been waiting for, the launch of the Western Australian collection and our Abstract Aerial Collection.
We ventured across to the West Coast of Australia on a little adventure to capture new content and new prints for your wall! Yep, you guessed it, lots of colour, lots of abstract aerial prints and most importantly a couple Whale Sharks.
It was an epic little 14-day adventure where we crammed a bunch of attractions into a very little time slot.
Starting off in Margaret River we captured the beautiful Gum Trees and visited the infamous surf spot "The Box", although the surf was wild and windy I didn't get a chance to head out there to capture new surf shots.
From here we went north up to Exmouth to swim with the Whale Sharks at Ningaloo Reef. Swimming with these beautiful creatures was a highlight from the trip and we were lucky enough to bring five new photographs to the Wildlife collection.
Shortly after this, we drove 7 hours south towards Monkey Mia and Shark Bay, a World Heritage listed location with an abundance of wildlife and some incredible Seagrass, the largest in the world with 12 different species growing.
A huge part of the collection involves the Abstract Aerial Art, a key focus was to capture the unique colours of the sands meeting the beautiful blue ocean. Shark Bay offers an incredible amount of colour and beauty in a very small space which is a photographers dream!
On the second day, I flew over towards Useless Loop to create some interesting abstract patterns of the salt ponds, a more muted toned print with neutral colours. I'm hoping these prints bring something different to my collection and offer a more styled aesthetic for those wanting earthy tones and colour palettes.
Stay tuned as I start to release some behind the scenes videos of the adventure and start showcasing some of my favourite wall art to date!
In the meantime here a couple prints that really pop.
Print Title - Sun & Salt - Useless Loop, Western Australia
