Symbiosis - Gold Coast Love Story
Surfing on the Gold Coast often brings a strange set of emotions. On the one hand, surfing removes anxiety, clears the mind, and brings you back to nature. On the other hand, the crowded waves, lack of car parks, and drop-ins could make you want to give up and sell your board. Finding Peace in the Crowd But, every so often, there is peace amongst the crowd. Solitude in a busy city where spray tans and fat lips reign supreme. For those few seconds you ride the wave, your brain switches off and total bliss in utopia is found. You remember why this 6ft piece of foam brought so much joy in the first place. It's not you against nature anymore, symbiosis with the ocean.

New Release Gold Coast Aerial Photos 2021
Timing a doors off helicopter shoot with perfect weather can often be challenging. On the Gold Coast however, it's a little bit easier compared to some places in the world. Generally speaking we have great weather all year round but from my surfing background I'm often looking at the water conditions, the clouds an direciton of the sun. This brand new aerial collection has been on the list of to do's for a while now. All images have been captured whilst flying in a helicopter over the beautiful Gold Coast. The Wheel Of Brisbane
If you have ever visited Brisbane or perhaps lived in Brisbane you would've noticed this iconic landmark which looks over the Brisbane River towards the Brisbane CBD. It's a popular spot and subject to photograph for landscape photographers for obvious reasons. Fireworks Behind the Wheel Slowing down your shutter speed to capture the blured motion of the wheel is a fun and exciting way to capture the wheel. I took it a step further and photographed Fireworks exploding behind it with a long focal length during RiverFire. The idea and concept came during the moment. I saw the fireworks exploding and I wasn't close enough to the river to get a clear shot of the fireworks with the city in the background. So, I took out my long 100-400mm lens and started to capture a unique perspective, an abstract photograph the reminded me of a sci-fi film, planets in the solar system and even decided to capture what I beleive would mimic the rings of Saturn with asteroids exploding near by. Often taking a step back to look at the bigger picture can bring a new and unique look to an often overly photographed location. I hope this strange, weird and wacky interpretation of the Brisbane Wheel brings your mind to a new place, a place of wonder and imagination where there are no bounds except your own creativity. Top 5 Australian Photographic Prints
This week we go into a deep dive on what I beleive are my top 5 Australian landscape prints. The criteria is simple, it needs to be a quintessential image that depicts or or more of the following: Every day life in Australia Beautiful fauna Stunning coastal spaces Historic features such as buildings or bridges, perhaps Sydney Opera House So, with this in mind I'm off an away to find photos in my collection that really tell the story of life in Australia. These of course are not documentary photos, they're tailored around fine art photography, landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes. Number 5 on the list Observertory Hill, showcasing the beautiful Syndey Harbour Bridge. A historical landmark and it truly is beautiful. This had to be included in the top 5 Australian Prints, simply because it's such a huge part of life in Sydney. Number 4 From Shark Bay Western Australia. I absolutely love this abstract aerial print. A birds eye view, looking down at dessert in the far west. The blue water meets such beautiful reds. It's an incredible place to visit, with widlife abundant everywhere you look. Turtles, sharks, dolphins, emus and echidnas just to name a few. David Attenborough filmed some episodes of Blue Plent here. Number 3 Binnalong Bay Tasmania. I personally don't think you can get much more Australian than this. The beauitful gum trees lining the Tasman Sea, the stunning white sands and beautiful colour palette which treats itself to a coastal home. I love this shot and this place in Tasmania. Will certainly head back there one day soon. Number 2 This was a close contender for the number one Australian Print!! Living by the beach, we have a huge culture of surf, sunbaking, swimming and using our beautifu beaches to their fullest potential. Personally I'm drawn to the ocean like many of you. When the wind is up and you haven't secured your beach umbrella, this is bound to happen. It happens frequently and it really does bring back memories of going to the beach with my family when a was a toddler. To me, this brings emotions of joy, happiness, having a holiday with my family. Maybe it will do the same for you, hopefully it finds that special emotional connection like I have. This is the power of art and photography! My favourite Australian Landscape Print is........ It's hard to go past this photograph which takes out my number one spot as my top Australian Art Print!! The beach, the surf and the coastline which is famous for being a Surfers Paradise. Although, conditions like this are hard to find along this stretch of beach due to the direction of the winds and abundance of sand, it sure is a great place to surf, have fun with friends and family and enjoy life. Which is what we are all wanting to do! Being a photographer in Australia is one of the most rewarding and interesting jobs I could dream of. Being able to travel with friendly people from all around, enjoying beautiful views, large mountains and the vast difference of dessert surrounded by turquoise waters, really is a dream come true. I'm very greatful and fortunate that I've been able to travel around our beautiful country. Maybe I'm a little biased but I think Australia is one of the most intersting places on Earth. Framed, Canvas or Acrylic? Choosing the Right Print for Your Wall
I get asked this more than almost anything else in the shop: framed, canvas or acrylic, which one should I choose? There's no single right answer, it comes down to the room the print is going into more than the image itself, specifically what the light in that room is doing.AcrylicAcrylic gives you the most detail and the most depth to the colour of any of the three, a bit like looking at a 4K screen rather than a flat print. The trade-off is that it's reflective, so it wants a wall that isn't fighting glare from a window or a light source directly opposite it. In the right spot it's the most striking option in the range, in the wrong spot the reflection will bother you more than the image pleases you.CanvasCanvas absorbs more of the light hitting it rather than bouncing it back, which makes it the better pick for a bright room, a wall that catches direct sun, or anywhere acrylic's reflection would be a problem. White Wash - An Abstract World
New collection out now - White Wash I’m pleased to announce my new abstract collection called “White Wash” is finally here. The concept came about a few years ago where I went to the coast to capture some surf images, however, the weather decided on a different idea. Not wanting to leave empty-handed I started focusing on the white wash and spray being created when the waves smashed against the rocks. As I got back to the office and started to play around with the concept and noticing the depth and perception of a textured scene, I realised a few more sessions like this with different lighting conditions could produce some unique abstract works of art. The idea is to challenge the viewers into understanding what they’re looking at with different perspectives and tweaks with colour and light. All photographs were captured in nature. White Wash is a collection of abstract ocean images the delves into the world of seemingly normal events that occur around the beach with a large focus of the white water that waves produce. Twisting and creating these mundane situations and creating beautiful artwork is a key focus of the White Wash collection.⠀ The goal of searching for something different and trying to find the beauty within something so seemingly normal in an everyday occurrence was a challenge but one that I believe produced beautiful works.
